On Wednesday, we as a membership created posters and drawings to spread awareness about Breast Cancer Awareness Month. According to breastcancer.org, more than 2.3 million women worldwide and thousands of men in the U.S. are affected by the disease. However, through spreading knowledge and information about ways to minimize risks, "breast cancer death rates in the United States have dropped by 44% since 1989" (nationalbreastcancer.org).

By hanging up these posters around campus, we strive to help in any way possible to continue lowering that percentage rate. Thank you to our Service Chair, Rithi Aree, for setting up this activity!

"Studying abroad in Greece was truly an unmatchable experience. It was both challenging and exciting, but most of all, it was unforgettable. I met so many wonderful people, saw so many breathtaking views, and made so many memories that will last me a lifetime. I am so thankful to have been able to make my study abroad dreams come true.

The experience was transformative, as it broadened my horizons academically and personally. Immersing myself in a new culture enhanced my communication skills and adaptability. I also felt that this experience fostered resilience and problem-solving skills. This journey deepened my curiosity and openness to the world around me!"

Today's KAPi Summer Highlight features Anabelle Sanchez and Rithi Aree! These members studied abroad through MSU's Social Science Scholars Program, where they visited several parts of England including London, the University of Oxford, and Lake District. During the trip, the program dove into the history of human interaction within the past and present, challenging students to exercise their critical thinking skills.

"I learned so much about myself just living on my own for the first time and being in a different country. I also learned a lot about the cultural differences in England, how adaptable I can be, and the confidence I can have while navigating new situations. I made so many memorable connections with the amazing people in the scholars program that I can’t wait to continue to see during the school year" (Rithi Aree).

Our brothers received the incredible opportunity to observe English cultures during their trip. "Noticing different dialects, usage of verbiage, customs, and approaches to thinking shifted my own perspective on the sociology of social interactions and structures. Being able to travel to different places in England allowed me to process the vast differences in environments and how people are affected by their surroundings. Time passed at a much smoother and slower pace, and I wish I could get that back at any moment" (Anabelle Sanchez).

We are so proud of our membership's commitment to learning more about our world and striving to gain new experiences. Go KAPi!!

This weekend, MSU KAPi took our annual trip to Chicago! Here, we were awarded the wonderful opportunity to tour Northwestern Law School! We wanted to give a big thank you to @northwesternlaw for having us!

While in Chicago, some brothers attended the Chicago Bulls game while others explored the city! Lastly, we got to meet with a few alumni who live and work or attend law school in the Chicago area! Thank you @peytonthein, @brittnicb, and @gwennethclise for coming to speak to us! Overall, it was a very successful, educational, and fun weekend!

Today KAPi took first place at @dpemsu Philanthropy Field Day! All proceeds went to the Center for Reproductive Rights! This was such a wonderful event to participate in and we all had so much fun🥇

This week was full of professional, brotherhood, and service events!

On Friday, Wayne State Law School welcomed us and gave us a tour of their brilliant institution!

On Saturday, we hosted our annual hayride and although it was wet and rainy, membership still had a blast!

Lastly, we participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, which is an event to raise awareness and money for Alzheimer’s and Alzheimer’s research!

National Hispanic Heritage Month, originally a week long celebration, was extended to a month long celebration from September 15th to October 15th. This month long holiday commemorates independence of many Latin nations and is used to celebrate Hispanic communities, their achievements, and impact.
